In putting together an article for Attain magazine on Twitter and the form of information transmission that it represents, there are a number of areas that need covering. Arguably the most significant is a concept of “New Media” which:
refers to on-demand access to content any time, anywhere, on any digital device, as well as interactive user feedback, creative participation and community formation around the media content. Another important promise of new media is the “democratization” of the creation, publishing, distribution and consumption of media content.
Grasping the implications of this on our lives, both for the engagement with a pluralistic society and for the impact on values, is essential.
